Wed Jan 29 05:06:48 UTC 2025: ## Ayodhya Ram Temple Overwhelmed by Devotees; Appeal for Delayed Visits
**Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India –** The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is experiencing an unprecedented surge in devotees, with an estimated 40 lakh (4 million) visitors since Monday, January 26th. This influx is largely attributed to the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in nearby Prayagraj, where over 14.76 crore (147.6 million) pilgrims have participated since January 13th. Many pilgrims are traveling from Prayagraj to Ayodhya, overwhelming the temple town’s infrastructure.
Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, issued a public appeal urging devotees from nearby areas to postpone their visits for 15-20 days. This measure aims to prioritize pilgrims traveling from longer distances and alleviate overcrowding and logistical challenges. The situation is further complicated by the upcoming Mauni Amavasya on January 29th, which is expected to draw approximately 10 crore (100 million) devotees to Prayagraj for the main bathing ritual.
The massive influx has led to significant traffic congestion and difficulties in managing the flow of devotees to the Ram Temple. The Ayodhya district administration has responded by advising educational institutions to switch to online classes for the next 10 days and requesting local residents to limit their movement. Police are also working to maintain order and ensure the safety of pilgrims. Rai suggests that conditions will improve after Vasant Panchami on February 2nd, when the weather will also be more favorable.
