**Bengaluru, India** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a landmark milestone, successfully completing its 100th space mission. This momentous occasion, reached after 46 years of dedicated work, marks a significant leap for India’s space program. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded ISRO’s achievement on X (formerly Twitter), congratulating the scientists and engineers and highlighting the growing involvement of private companies in India’s space endeavors.
The PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle), a workhorse of ISRO’s fleet, has been instrumental in this success, accounting for 62 of the 100 missions. Other vehicles, including the GSLV, LVM3, and SSLV, have also contributed significantly. These launches, all originating from the Sriharikota spaceport, have placed numerous satellites into orbit, including those crucial to missions like Chandrayaan-1 and the Mars Orbiter Mission.
ISRO’s ambitious vision extends far beyond this milestone. The organization plans to launch another 100 missions within the next five years, a testament to its commitment to accelerating India’s position in the global space race. This accelerated pace is fueled by increased private sector participation and ongoing technological advancements. With this aggressive timeline, India is poised to become a leading force in space exploration.
