**Kalaburagi, Karnataka, January 29, 2025** – Former President Ram Nath Kovind lauded the “One Nation, One Election” (ONOE) system, stating its implementation would revolutionize India’s economic development and electoral framework. Speaking at the inauguration of the seventh Bharatiya Samskriti Utsav in Kalaburagi district on Wednesday, Kovind highlighted the recently submitted 18,626-page report to President Droupadi Murmu.
The report proposes simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, with urban local body polls held within 100 days of the general elections. Kovind emphasized that ONOE would minimize administrative disruptions and allow teachers more time for academics. He further noted that four former Supreme Court Chief Justices consulted by the committee expressed strong support for the initiative.
The event also celebrated the golden jubilee of the Sri Kottala Basaveshwara Education Society. Kovind spoke on the importance of India’s ancient traditions, emphasizing the reverence for nature in the Vedas and the rich tapestry of cultural values reflected in Indian festivals. He highlighted the sophisticated ancient Indian education system, encompassing a broad spectrum of knowledge from the Vedas and Upanishads to specialized fields like astronomy, Ayurveda, yoga, and mathematics.
