Tue Jan 28 21:22:09 UTC 2025: ## Neymar Returns to Santos After Short, Injury-Plagued Saudi Stint
**São Paulo, Brazil** – Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. is returning to his boyhood club, Santos FC, the club president announced Tuesday. The move comes just a day after Neymar ended his disappointing 17-month spell with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, where he was hampered by injury and saw limited playing time.
Neymar, 32, played only seven matches and scored a single goal for Al-Hilal after suffering an ACL injury while playing for Brazil in October 2023. While linked with a move to MLS side Chicago Fire, reports indicate his preference was always a return to Santos.
Santos President Marcelo Teixeira welcomed Neymar back to the club via social media, stating, “It is the time [to come back], Neymar. It is time for you to come back to your people. To our home, to the club in our hearts.”
Neymar’s return to Santos marks a significant homecoming for the player who previously won six titles with the club, including the Copa Libertadores in 2011. His departure for Barcelona in 2013 launched him to global stardom, where he formed the famed “MSN” attacking trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, achieving Champions League and La Liga glory. A record-breaking move to Paris Saint-Germain followed, although the Champions League title eluded him despite playing alongside Messi and Kylian Mbappé. This latest move represents a return to his roots and a chance to rediscover his joy for the game.
