**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, January 29, 2025** – NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath urged citizens to participate in the central government’s ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijili Yojana’ solar panel installation scheme. The officials led an awareness rally on Tuesday, visiting homes with newly installed panels.

The scheme offers a subsidy of ₹78,000 on a 3 kW solar panel (worth ₹2 lakh), providing free electricity for 20 years. Excess power generated can be sold back to the DISCOMS. A 3kW system generates approximately 300 units of electricity monthly.

The district aims for 2 lakh installations, with loans available to over 1 lakh beneficiaries. Currently, 70,000 people have registered, including many women from Self Help Groups. Authorities have instructed banks to expedite loan approvals. The officials highlighted that electricity bill savings can be used for loan repayments. The rally included participation from Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra and other district officials.
