Wed Jan 29 13:20:00 UTC 2025: **Good Morning America Co-Anchor Michael Strahan’s Daughter Wins Battle Against Brain Cancer**
NEW YORK, NY – Michael Strahan, co-anchor of Good Morning America, has shared the inspiring story of his daughter Isabella’s courageous battle against a brain tumor. At age 19, Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. After undergoing brain surgery, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and several additional surgeries, Isabella, now 20, is cancer-free.
The family’s journey is chronicled in this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine and in an upcoming ABC special, “Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer,” airing February 5th at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, and streaming the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Isabella’s battle began in the fall of 2023 when she experienced severe symptoms, including nausea, dizziness, and headaches. A trip to the ER revealed a rapidly growing tumor. Despite the harrowing diagnosis and grueling treatments, Isabella’s strength and resilience impressed her family and medical team. She even documented her experiences in real-time via YouTube vlogs, donating the proceeds to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
Strahan praised his daughter’s unwavering spirit and determination, stating, “Her spirit was there. She said, ‘Dad, I’ll do whatever. I want to live.'” He added, “I knew she wouldn’t quit. She was going to fight—and she did.”
Isabella, now a communications major at the University of Southern California, will continue undergoing regular checkups. While acknowledging the ongoing uncertainty, both Isabella and her father express optimism for the future, emphasizing the importance of living life to the fullest. Isabella hopes to use her experience to become a voice for other cancer survivors.
