Wed Jan 29 14:52:18 UTC 2025: ## Mauni Amavasya 2025: Millions to Take Holy Dip During Auspicious ‘Amrit Snan’
**Prayagraj, India** – Mauni Amavasya, a highly significant day in the Hindu calendar, fell on January 29th, 2025, coinciding with the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. This year’s Mauni Amavasya, also known as Maghi Amavasya, is marked by the observance of a vow of silence (Maun Vrat) and the performance of sacred rituals.
The day holds particular importance due to the Maha Kumbh, where devotees partake in the “Amrit Snan,” a holy dip believed to cleanse sins and offer a path to salvation. According to astrological calculations shared by Pramanand Maharaj citing Aniruddhacharaya, several auspicious time slots for this ritual exist, the first being between 7:20 AM and 8:44 AM. Four other auspicious timings are also predicted for the Amrit Snan.
Millions are expected to participate in the Amrit Snan during the Maha Kumbh Mela. While the practice and its significance are deeply rooted in Hindu faith, NDTV does not independently verify the astrological predictions.
