Wed Jan 29 02:29:12 IST 2025: ## Indian Railways Runs Record 360 Trains for Maha Kumbh Mela

**Prayagraj, India** – The Indian Railways is deploying a massive transportation network to manage the expected influx of pilgrims to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. For Mauni Amavasya, the most auspicious day of the Kumbh Mela, a record 360 trains, including 190 special services, are in operation. This unprecedented effort, according to Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar, translates to a train arriving every four minutes.

The special trains are operating across three zones – Northern, North Eastern, and North Central Railways – to handle the anticipated 100 million pilgrims. Kumar highlighted the railways’ ₹5,000 crore investment in infrastructure upgrades around Prayagraj, including new road overbridges and underbridges, track doubling, and station improvements, as crucial to this logistical feat.

To ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, the railways has implemented several passenger-centric measures. These include newly constructed toilets, ample drinking water and food facilities at every station, first-aid booths and medical observation rooms, and Yatri Suvidha Kendras at major stations offering assistance with luggage, bookings, and essential supplies. RPF personnel are deployed to ensure passenger safety and efficient boarding and deboarding, with colour-coded tickets and designated holding areas aiding smooth movement. In coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government, large holding areas like Khusro Bagh (with a capacity of 100,000 passengers) provide comfortable waiting spaces with food and multilingual information displays.
