Wed Jan 29 18:37:22 IST 2025: ## Haryana Files Case Against Kejriwal Over Yamuna Water Poisoning Allegations

**Chandigarh, India** – The Haryana state government has filed a criminal case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for alleging that the Haryana BJP government poisoned the Yamuna River water supplied to Delhi. The complaint, filed Wednesday in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Sonipat, cites sections of the Disaster Management Act.

Kejriwal’s claim, made earlier this week, sparked outrage. He alleged that Haryana deliberately added poison to the water, citing high ammonia levels exceeding permissible limits by over 700 times. He further claimed that only the vigilance of Delhi Jal Board engineers prevented this water from reaching Delhi residents. His accusations were echoed by other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who accused the BJP of “water terrorism” and demanded action from the Election Commission.

The Election Commission has requested evidence from Kejriwal by 8 PM Wednesday, citing the potential for his statements to incite inter-state conflict and influence voters. The Commission highlighted the serious ramifications of such unsubstantiated claims, particularly given their potential impact on the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

The Delhi Jal Board, however, strongly refuted Kejriwal’s claims, calling them “factually incorrect, without any basis, and misleading.” The Board’s CEO, Shilpa Shinde, urged the Chief Secretary to inform the Lieutenant Governor of these false statements and their potential to harm inter-state relations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also weighed in, strongly condemning Kejriwal’s allegations as “disgusting” and accusing the AAP of resorting to baseless claims for political gain. He questioned the logic of Haryana poisoning the water consumed by Delhi residents, including himself. Several other BJP leaders, including Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, joined in condemning Kejriwal’s statements. Haryana state minister Vipul Goyal stated that the government will not tolerate Kejriwal’s irresponsible remarks and will ensure he is held accountable. The Haryana government views Kejriwal’s actions as an attempt to spread panic amongst the public of both Delhi and Haryana.
