**New Delhi, January 29, 2025** – A late-night rescue operation in Burari, Delhi, has yielded a positive outcome, with four members of a family pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed four-story building. The family—a couple and their two young sons—were found trapped in a cavity created when a ceiling slab fell onto a gas cylinder, preventing them from being crushed by the debris. They have been hospitalized.
The building, located near Oscar Public School, collapsed on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of five people, including two children. The rescue operation, involving the Delhi Police, NDRF, and Delhi Fire Services, is ongoing and expected to continue into Wednesday night. A total of 21 people have been extracted from the rubble so far; 16 survived, while five succumbed to their injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia confirmed the details. The building, recently constructed, had four stories.
