Wed Jan 29 10:57:46 IST 2025: ## Rohit Sharma Complains to BCCI About Sunil Gavaskar’s Criticism

**Mumbai, India** – Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly filed a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against legendary cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar. The complaint stems from Gavaskar’s commentary on Sharma’s recent poor form during the recent Test series against Australia, where Sharma scored only 31 runs across three matches and even dropped himself from the final game.

CricBlogger reports that Sharma felt Gavaskar’s criticism was overly negative and created unnecessary external pressure. Gavaskar, in a column for the Sydney Morning Herald, reportedly suggested Sharma would step down from the captaincy if his poor run continued.

The news comes as Sharma, along with teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, will miss Mumbai’s crucial Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya to prepare for the upcoming ODI series against England. This absence highlights the ongoing struggles of the Indian batting lineup, which has prompted the BCCI to mandate player participation in domestic competitions.

Sharma’s form has been a significant concern, with a paltry 164 runs in his last 15 Test innings. While Jaiswal showed some promise in Australia, Iyer has been Mumbai’s top performer in the Ranji Trophy this season. The trio’s focus now shifts to the England series, beginning February 6th.
