Tue Jan 28 16:26:26 UTC 2025: ## Daughter of Slain BJP Leader Dies by Suicide in Dehradun
**Dehradun, Uttarakhand –** Deepa Mandavi, the 22-year-old daughter of slain Chhattisgarh BJP leader Bheema Mandavi, was found dead in her paying guest accommodation in Dehradun on January 26th. Police are treating the death as a suicide, though no suicide note was discovered.
Mandavi, a third-year physiotherapy student, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room in the Karanpur area. She had recently moved to the PG accommodation from a shared rental. Her mother, Ojasvi Mandavi, a member of the Chhattisgarh State Women Commission, traveled to Dehradun to claim her daughter’s body, which was subsequently taken back to their village in Dantewada for cremation.
This is the second suicide in the family. One of Deepa’s sisters died by suicide in 2013. Their father, Bheema Mandavi, a BJP MLA, was killed in a Naxalite attack in 2019.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences to the family via X (formerly Twitter), stating he had spoken with Ojasvi Mandavi to offer his support. The family described a difficult period following the deaths of Bheema Mandavi and his other daughter.
