Wed Jan 29 13:32:57 IST 2025: ## CPI(M) Demands Release of ₹1,635 Crore in MGNREGS Dues to Tamil Nadu
**Chennai, January 29, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has urged the central government to release ₹1,635 crore in outstanding dues owed to Tamil Nadu under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). This demand was made during the party’s state committee meeting on Tuesday.
In addition to this key resolution, the CPI(M) also passed resolutions calling for the Tamil Nadu state government to maintain peace and harmony, protect the religious rights of minorities, and recognize the achievements of workers in forming the Samsung India Workers Union (SIWU).
Senior CPI(M) leaders, including State Secretary P. Shanmugam and Politburo member G. Ramakrishnan, were present at the meeting.
