**HYDERABAD, January 29, 2025** – The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has opened a new state-of-the-art laboratory in Hyderabad dedicated to testing specialized textile products. The facility, inaugurated on Monday by BIS Director General Pramod Kumar Tiwari, will significantly enhance the quality control of textiles in India.
The lab, located alongside an existing gold testing laboratory, will enforce government quality control orders and ensure that textile products meet national standards. Its capabilities will soon expand to include yarn testing with the addition of a new Universal Testing Machine (UTM).
Officials emphasized the importance of purchasing ISI-marked products, guaranteeing adherence to BIS standards and assuring consumers of quality and safety. The Hyderabad lab is expected to play a key role in bolstering India’s textile industry by assisting manufacturers in improving product quality and contributing to overall sector growth. The inauguration was attended by senior BIS officials from across India.
