Wed Jan 29 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Australia’s Sri Lanka Tour Expanded with Extra ODI Match
**Colombo, Sri Lanka** – Australia’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka has been expanded to include an additional One Day International (ODI) match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced today. The revised schedule now features two ODIs and two Test matches, adding to the already planned Test series contributing to the ICC World Test Championship.
The extra ODI provides crucial preparation for Australia ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, commencing February 19th. This is a significant boost for the Australian team, in contrast to Sri Lanka, who will be absent from the Champions Trophy for the first time due to failing to qualify.
The tour will commence with the first Test match in Galle from January 29th to February 2nd, followed by the second Test at the same venue from February 6th to 10th. The two ODIs will be played in Colombo on February 12th and 14th.
Leading the Australian team will be Steven Smith, standing in as captain for the Test series while regular captain Pat Cummins takes paternity leave. Smith brings extensive sub-continental experience to the team, which includes Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Travis Head (vice-captain), Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Nathan McSweeney, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, and Beau Webster.
