Wed Jan 29 14:31:56 IST 2025: **Sharjah Hosts Colorful Opening of ACFA Premier Cricket League**

**Sharjah, UAE (January 29, 2025) –** The ACFA Professional Cricket League (APL) kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony in Sharjah. The 100-ball tournament features 32 men’s and 8 women’s teams competing at the Sharjah DC Stadium until February 15th.

The inaugural day saw victories for DB College Sasthamkotta, MG College Thiruvananthapuram, Christ College Iringalakkuda, and Cusat. The tournament was inaugurated by BNW Developments Chairman Angoor Agarwal, with ACFA Events President Charles Paul presiding. Former Indian cricketer and brand ambassador S. Sreesanth was also in attendance.

The opening ceremony included a fireworks display, a team march past, and a Chenda fusion performance by the Indri band. Several dignitaries addressed the gathering, including Isaac John Pattaniparambil, P. Sreekrishna, Shahul Hameed, Sirajuddin Mustafa, Hari Kumar, Biju Krishnan, K.V. Manoj, Rani Sudhir, V.S. Bijukumar, and Judin Fernandez.

In other matches held on Monday, Madappally Government College defeated Thiruvananthapuram Government Engineering College by 78 runs, with Ramees Abdul Kareem named player of the match. Perumon Engineering College also secured a victory, beating Kasaragod IBCAA Government College by 72 runs; Atul Ajay was named player of the match in that game.
