**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:** Authorities have closed the Lucknow-Prayagraj National Highway due to the overwhelming number of pilgrims converging on Prayagraj for the Mauni Amavasya bathing ceremony at the Kumbh Mela. The administration implemented the closure to manage the massive influx of devotees. Barricades have been erected at various points, and pilgrims are being temporarily held in designated holding areas to prevent congestion. This decision comes amidst reports of violence at railway stations and a fatal accident involving pilgrims traveling to the Mela. A separate incident involving a seven-year-old girl who was attacked by her uncle has also been reported. The highway closure is expected to remain in effect while the high volume of pilgrims persists.
