**Mumbai, January 28, 2025** – Quick-commerce app Zepto is facing allegations of price discrimination after a *The Hindu* investigation revealed significant price discrepancies between orders placed on iPhones and Android devices. The investigation found that iPhone users consistently paid more for fresh fruits and vegetables than Android users, even when ordering the same items to the same address.
For example, one kilogram of onions cost ₹43 on an Android phone but ₹57 on an iPhone. Similarly, four Shimla apples cost ₹100 on Android and ₹123 on iPhone. This price difference was observed across multiple produce items, with Android users consistently receiving greater savings compared to the marked retail price (MRP). However, the prices for packaged goods like milk and noodles remained consistent across both platforms.
While iPhone users experienced a one-minute faster delivery estimate, the significant price disparity for fresh produce raises concerns about potential unfair pricing practices. Zepto has yet to comment on the findings. The investigation highlights the need for transparency and fair pricing practices within the burgeoning quick-commerce sector.
