**New Delhi, Jan 27** – India’s Supreme Court will mark its 75th anniversary on Tuesday with a special ceremonial bench comprising all 33 judges. The event, which will take place at 3:30 pm in Courtroom Number 1, will be live-streamed. This mirrors a similar ceremony held in 2000 to commemorate the court’s 50th anniversary.
Established on January 28, 1950, with the adoption of the Indian Constitution, the Supreme Court initially held its inaugural proceedings in the Chamber of Princes within the old Parliament building. It moved to its current location on Tilak Marg in 1958. The court’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations were launched last year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who highlighted the Supreme Court’s crucial role in upholding India’s democratic values, particularly in areas such as freedom of expression, personal liberty, and social justice. The Prime Minister also inaugurated several digital initiatives aimed at enhancing the court’s accessibility and efficiency.
