Tue Jan 28 03:18:19 UTC 2025: ## Bengal Forest Officials Monitor Royal Bengal Tiger’s Movement
**Kolkata, January 28, 2025** – A Royal Bengal tiger that crossed into West Bengal from Jharkhand on January 12 is currently residing in the state’s Junglemahal belt, according to a top forest department official. The tiger, which briefly ventured into Jharkhand’s Dalma forest range before returning, is now situated in the forested area encompassing Jhargram, Purulia, and Bankura districts.
Forest officials confirmed the tiger’s presence through fresh pugmarks and camera images, noting its continuous movement within the region. While the tiger has shown no signs of aggression towards humans, the forest department is closely monitoring its activity, prioritizing its safety and avoiding disruption. Officials have alerted residents within a 20-kilometer radius of the forested area, advising them to avoid venturing deep into the woods, especially after dusk.
The tiger’s prolonged stay is attributed to the region’s conducive habitat and ample prey base. This incident follows a similar case last month, where another tiger, named Zeenat, was captured after straying into West Bengal from Odisha via Jharkhand. The forest department’s current strategy involves coordinated efforts from Jhargram, Purulia, and Bankura divisions, with no need to call in support from the Sunderbans Tiger Reserve at this time.
