**Bangalore, India** – Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai has criticized the charges filed against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan and 16 others under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, calling the situation “very wrong.” The charges stem from a complaint by Durgappa, a former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) faculty member from the Bovi tribal community.
Durgappa alleges he was falsely implicated in a 2014 honey trap case, subsequently dismissed from his position, and subjected to caste-based abuse and threats. The 71st City Civil and Sessions Court ordered the Sadashiva Nagar police to file the case, naming Gopalakrishnan, former IISc Director Balaram, and several other senior faculty members including Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, and Sandya Vishwswaraih, among others. The full list of accused also includes Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.
Pai urged the government to ensure that innocent individuals serving on governing boards are not wrongly accused. He emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of all individuals involved in legal proceedings. There has been no immediate response from the IISc faculty or Gopalakrishnan, who also serves on the IISc Board of Trustees.
