**NEW YORK** – Sterling K. Brown, beloved for his emotionally resonant role in “This Is Us,” is taking on a new challenge: a sci-fi thriller. In Hulu’s “Paradise,” created by his “This Is Us” collaborator Dan Fogelman, Brown plays a stoic Secret Service agent protecting the President – a role vastly different from his previous, more openly emotional character.

The new series, which premiered Sunday, sees Brown’s character, Xavier, grappling with the murder of the President (James Marsden) in a strangely unsettling, almost idyllic setting.
