Tue Jan 28 14:47:16 IST 2025: ## Karnataka CM Orders Review of SC/ST Promotion Injustice

**Bengaluru, January 28, 2025** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a special meeting to address alleged injustices faced by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) government employees in promotions. The decision follows complaints of violations of reservation rules and the ignoring of reports highlighting backlog and promotion issues.

The CM, addressing a state-level meeting on SC/ST welfare, expressed zero tolerance for officials obstructing opportunities for SC/ST communities and insisted on mandatory reservation implementation across all departments. He directed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajaneesh to convene the review meeting.

Ballari MP E. Tukaram and MLA Narendra Swamy raised concerns about irregularities in police department seniority lists, accusing the ADGP (Admin) of inaction. MLC Sudham Das criticized the government’s disregard for a cabinet sub-committee report detailing injustices.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also vowed to take action against deputy commissioners and superintendents of police if the banned Devdasi system persists. He expressed concern over the granting of bail to those accused of atrocities against Dalits, questioning the number of appeals filed by officials for bail cancellations in such cases. He further declared that he would not tolerate police accepting counter-complaints to weaken atrocity cases. Future review meetings will be held every six months to monitor progress and hold responsible officials accountable.
