**Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, January 28, 2025** – Kalpana Chawla Award recipient and mountaineer Muthamil Selvi urged students to pursue their dreams relentlessly, despite setbacks, at the 150th session of the “Coffee with Collector” program in Virudhunagar on Tuesday. Addressing students alongside Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan, Selvi shared her experiences conquering mountain peaks across six continents, highlighting the challenges she faced, including mockery from fellow climbers and witnessing the harsh realities of high-altitude mountaineering. She emphasized the importance of self-confidence and perseverance in overcoming obstacles.
Selvi also stressed the need to teach boys respectful behavior towards girls from a young age and advised students to limit their social media consumption to focus on their own goals. She encouraged students facing harassment to confide in their parents.
Collector Jeyaseelan echoed Selvi’s message of perseverance, noting that challenges are inherent in all aspects of life. He also addressed concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) replacing jobs, stating that while some jobs might be automated, AI will also create new opportunities and improve efficiency.
The “Coffee with Collector” program, now in its third year, aims to inspire students and inform them about opportunities available to them.
