**Mysuru, Karnataka, January 28, 2025** – Mysuru Lok Sabha MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, a member of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family, has asserted that granting Transfer of Developmental Rights (TDR) instead of monetary compensation for land acquisition near Bengaluru Palace would not burden the Karnataka state exchequer.
The government plans to acquire land near the palace for road widening. Wadiyar countered the government’s claim that compensation would be necessary, stating that TDR certificates would suffice and incur zero cost to the state.
He further clarified that while there may not be a formal stay order, the courts have mandated a status quo on the government’s acquisition plans, contradicting claims made by Law Minister H. K. Patil. Wadiyar made these statements to reporters in Suttur, near Mysuru.
