Mon Jan 27 16:26:24 UTC 2025: ## Shop Owner Arrested for Choking Man to Death During Drunken Argument

**THOOTHUKUDI, January 28, 2025** – A 44-year-old shop owner, Mohanraj, has been arrested for allegedly choking a 41-year-old biryani shop owner, A. Paramasivan, to death following a drunken altercation in Ettayapuram Road, Thoothukudi.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday when Paramasivan and Mohanraj engaged in a heated argument, escalating to violence. Mohanraj allegedly choked Paramasivan with a cloth and struck him with a liquor bottle, inflicting fatal injuries. Paramasivan was found unconscious at home and pronounced dead on arrival at a private hospital.

The SIPCOT police, after registering a case and questioning Mohanraj, arrested him on Monday. Investigations are ongoing.
