**Puducherry, January 28, 2025** – Gautam Roy, acting director of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (Jipmer), received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the recently concluded PUDUCON’25 conference. The two-day event, co-hosted by the Puducherry chapters of the Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) and the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), focused on “Promoting Health Through Partnerships.”
The conference addressed crucial public health issues including mental health, climate change, death certification, and publicly funded healthcare. Experts discussed topics such as vector-borne disease control, AI in public health, and the “One Health” approach. Presentations also covered updates on national TB elimination and immunization programs. Two workshops on infectious disease modeling and health technology assessment were also held.
Around 200 faculty and residents from medical colleges and public health institutions in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu attended. The conference highlighted the importance of expanding stakeholder networks, strengthening knowledge sharing, and collaborative efforts to advance public health in the region. The award to Dr. Roy recognizes his significant contributions to the field.
