Tue Jan 28 03:00:00 UTC 2025: ## LeBron James Makes History with 21st All-Star Selection

**Los Angeles, CA** – LeBron James etched his name further into NBA history Thursday night, earning his record-breaking 21st All-Star selection. The 40-year-old Lakers star surpasses his own record, previously holding the title with 19 selections. This marks another milestone in a remarkable career, exceeding even Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 19 selections.

James will start alongside a stellar Western Conference lineup featuring Nikola Jokic (7th selection), Kevin Durant (15th selection), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2nd selection), and Stephen Curry (11th selection). Durant’s selection ties him with Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Shaquille O’Neal for fourth most all-time.

The Eastern Conference starting five includes Giannis Antetokounmpo (9th selection), Jayson Tatum (6th selection), Donovan Mitchell (6th selection), and New York Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson (1st selection) and Karl-Anthony Towns (1st selection as a starter). Brunson edged out several other contenders for the final starting spot.

The starting lineups were determined by a hybrid voting system, incorporating fan votes (50%), media votes (25%), and player votes (25%). Seven reserves from each conference will be announced next Thursday. This year’s All-Star game features a revised format, dividing the 24 All-Stars into three teams, with coaches from the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers leading two of the teams. The game will be coached by Mark Daigneault and Kenny Atkinson, respectively, with assistance from their respective coaching staffs. This year’s event is especially noteworthy for Stephen Curry, whose 11th All-Star appearance takes place in his home arena in San Francisco.
