**KOCHI, INDIA** – Malayalam filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is facing new legal trouble following a police complaint alleging stalking and defamation via Facebook posts targeting a popular actress. The Elamakkara police in Kochi have registered a case against Sasidharan under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of stalking, criminal intimidation, and defamation.
Police are working to have the allegedly contentious posts removed from Facebook, with the District Police Chief (Kochi City), Putta Vimaladitya, stating that measures will be taken, including potentially issuing a lookout circular if Sasidharan, who claims to be currently in the U.S., is found to be abroad.
This isn’t Sasidharan’s first encounter with the law regarding this actress. He was arrested on stalking charges in May 2022 and subsequently granted bail; however, a chargesheet in that case is reportedly yet to be filed. The police are currently investigating his current claims and location.
