Tue Jan 28 01:05:47 UTC 2025: ## Infosys Co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, Former IISc Director Among 18 Accused in Caste Atrocity Case

**Bengaluru, January 28, 2025** – Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan and former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram are among 18 individuals named in a case registered under the Prevention of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Atrocities Act. The case, filed at the Sadashiva Nagar police station on Monday, January 27th, stems from a complaint by Durgappa, a faculty member at IISc’s Centre for Sustainable Technology who belongs to the Bovi tribal community.

Durgappa alleges that he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case in 2014 and subsequently dismissed from his position. He further claims he endured casteist abuse and threats. The other accused include prominent figures from IISc and other institutions.

The case was registered following directions from the 71st city civil and sessions court. There has been no immediate response from IISc faculty or Kris Gopalakrishnan, who also serves on the IISc Board of Trustees. The incident has sparked widespread attention and raised significant questions about alleged caste discrimination within prominent academic and technological institutions in India.
