Tue Jan 28 14:42:56 UTC 2025: ## Bumrah Sweeps ICC Awards, Named Cricketer of the Year

**Dubai, January 28, 2025** – Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been crowned the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, winning the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Award. The announcement, made Tuesday, follows Bumrah’s earlier win as ICC Test Cricketer of the Year on Monday.

The 31-year-old’s dominant performance throughout 2024, showcasing “skill, precision, and relentless consistency” across all formats, secured him the coveted award. Bumrah becomes the fifth Indian to receive the Sir Garfield Sobers Award, following in the footsteps of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli.

Bumrah’s outstanding year included a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup victory in the Americas, where he claimed 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26. His Test performances were equally impressive, culminating in a record-breaking 907 points in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings – the highest ever for an Indian bowler. He finished 2024 with 71 wickets in 13 Test matches at an average of 14.92, a remarkable feat only surpassed by Kapil Dev’s 1983 performance. His 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy further solidified his position as a world-class bowler.

Despite India’s failure to reach the World Test Championship final, Bumrah’s individual achievements remain undeniable. He expressed his happiness for the award in a video statement, emphasizing his grounded approach to success.
