Tue Jan 28 13:24:49 UTC 2025: ## BJP Confident of Delhi Victory, Citing AAP Corruption and Public Disillusionment
**New Delhi:** Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed unwavering confidence in the BJP’s ability to win the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on February 5th, ending over two decades of opposition rule. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Mr. Shah declared that the BJP’s “exile” in Delhi will definitively end with the formation of a BJP government.
The BJP, absent from power in Delhi for more than 25 years, aims to break the stronghold of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has secured sweeping victories in the past two assembly elections. While the BJP has maintained control of all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, Mr. Shah attributed the anticipated shift in power to widespread public disillusionment with the AAP.
He directly accused the AAP of rampant corruption, stating that the party, which rose to power on an anti-corruption platform, has engaged in “corruption worth thousands of crores.” He referenced the ongoing excise policy scam, which led to the arrest of key AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. The AAP has vehemently denied these allegations, branding them politically motivated.
Mr. Shah dismissed accusations of the BJP copying AAP’s promises, asserting that while some similarities might exist, the public recognizes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fulfill the BJP’s commitments, unlike the AAP.
The Delhi election will be a three-way contest between the AAP, BJP, and Congress. Vote counting is scheduled for February 8th.
