Mon Jan 27 22:43:42 IST 2025: ## Vijayawada DYFI Protests Police Constable Recruitment Delay
**Vijayawada, January 27, 2025** – Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest in Vijayawada on Monday, demanding that all candidates who passed the preliminary examination for police constable recruitment be allowed to take the physical fitness test.
The protest follows a two-year delay in the recruitment process, initially announced in November 2022 for 6,100 posts. While 95,208 candidates cleared the preliminary exam in January 2023, the government postponed the next stage due to MLC elections and pending court cases. DYFI leaders argue that disqualifying candidates based on age limits now is unfair, considering the government’s delay. They also highlight approximately 20,000 vacant police positions in the state.
DYFI State secretary G. Ramanna and State president Y. Ramu emphasized the significant time lost by the candidates due to the government’s inaction. They warned of a large-scale agitation if the government does not allow all qualified aspirants to proceed to the physical fitness tests.
