Tue Jan 28 18:25:13 IST 2025: ## Delhi Police Seize Weapons, Drugs, and Cash Ahead of Assembly Polls

**New Delhi, January 28, 2025** – Delhi Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal activities in the lead-up to the February 5th Delhi Assembly elections. In the period since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect on January 7th, authorities have registered 774 cases of alleged MCC violations. This includes the seizure of 374 illegal firearms, 453 cartridges, 68,636 liters of liquor (valued at over ₹12 crore), 158.126 kg of drugs (valued at over ₹72 crore), and over 1,200 banned injections. A significant amount of cash (₹7.60 crore) and 37.39 kg of silver were also confiscated. A total of 24,081 arrests have been made under various legal provisions, including those under the Excise Act. The police have increased vigilance at border checkpoints to prevent the smuggling of contraband. Voting for all 70 Assembly seats will take place on February 5th, with counting scheduled for February 8th.
