Tue Jan 28 01:06:02 IST 2025: ## Trump Administration Secures China’s Agreement to Repatriate Citizens

**Washington, D.C. —** The Trump administration announced Monday that China has agreed to repatriate Chinese nationals deemed to be illegally in the United States. This follows months of tension, with the U.S. threatening sanctions against countries refusing to cooperate on deportations.

The U.S. has already sent five charter flights carrying hundreds of Chinese nationals back to China. However, the Department of Homeland Security expressed frustration over China’s previous reluctance to issue necessary travel documents. The department had warned of potential visa sanctions for continued non-cooperation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated that China will accept those verified as mainland Chinese citizens. This agreement comes after President Trump declared illegal immigration a national emergency last week, implementing measures including military aid for border security and a broad asylum ban.

The White House welcomed China’s cooperation, stating that all countries should accept the repatriation of their citizens residing illegally in the U.S. The number of Chinese citizens crossing the U.S. southern border illegally has significantly increased in recent years, attributed to economic challenges in China and stricter U.S. visa policies due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This agreement follows a similar situation with Colombia, where the U.S. initially threatened tariffs but ultimately withdrew them after Colombia agreed to accept deportees. President Trump is considering imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico on February 1st to further address illegal immigration and the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.
