Tue Jan 28 13:02:19 UTC 2025: **India’s Budget 2025 to Tackle Inflation, Offer Tax Relief**

NEW DELHI, January 28, 2025 – India’s upcoming Union Budget 2025 is expected to prioritize inflation control and provide tax relief, according to sources and recent surveys. The government is reportedly planning significant increases in allocations for the PM Aasha scheme, potentially between ₹10,000 and ₹12,000 crore, to mitigate rising prices of essential commodities like pulses, edible oils, onions, and tomatoes.

This increased funding will bolster price support schemes and the price stabilization fund, enabling the government to purchase pulses at minimum support prices (MSP) and release them to consumers at affordable rates when necessary. Similar measures are planned to control onion and tomato prices, and to purchase oilseeds like soybeans and mustard.

These measures come in response to widespread public concern; a recent Kantar survey revealed that 59% of Indians cite inflation as their primary worry. The budget is also anticipated to focus on stimulating economic growth through supportive policies that promote sustainable development, job creation, and address the high cost of living. Significant tax relief for salaried individuals, particularly those in the middle-income bracket, is also expected. The budget will be presented on February 1st, 2025.
