**Chennai, January 28, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, K. Annamalai, has urged Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene in the arrest of 13 Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy. The fishermen, from Karaikal (Puducherry) and the Tamil Nadu districts of Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam, were apprehended while fishing, allegedly in international waters. Their boat was seized, leaving their families distressed. Annamalai highlighted the fishermen’s role as sole breadwinners and requested immediate action to secure their release and repatriation.
