**Bengaluru, January 28, 2025** – Akruti Bookstore, a cherished haven for book lovers in Bengaluru, has moved to a new location on D.V.G. Road in Basavanagudi, opening its doors to the public on January 27th. The bookstore, known for its curated collection of new and second-hand books in English and regional languages, is expanding its focus on progressive and anti-caste literature, primarily from independent publishers.

To mark the grand reopening, Akruti hosted an inaugural event on January 28th featuring a discussion on “The Sum of Equality: Kabir, Ambedkar and the Buddha,” accompanied by a musical performance.
The event centered around Anand’s book, “The Notebook of Kabir: Thinner than Water, Fiercer than Fire,” which explores Kabir’s interpretations of Buddha’s teachings. Anand, the book’s author, editor at Navayana Trust, and a Dagarvani Dhrupad vocalist, will share his musical journey inspired by Kabir and his decades-long study of anti-caste thought.
The evening continued with a conversation featuring political theorist Rinku Lamba and historian Chandrabhan Yadav, both associate professors at the National Law School of India University. The event highlighted Akruti Bookstore’s commitment to fostering intellectual discourse and promoting socially conscious literature within the Bengaluru community.
