**KOCHI, January 28, 2025** – Ernakulam North police have arrested two men in connection with the theft of 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments, ₹10,000 in cash, and documents from a house on Desabhimani Road in Kaloor. Mohidul Islam, 27, and Babu Sohara, 28, both from Assam, were apprehended on Sunday, January 26th, near the North railway station. Police recovered approximately seven sovereigns of gold and ₹13,000 from the suspects. The theft occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 24th, from a house that had been locked since March 2024. While the accused have given conflicting statements, police are still searching for the remaining stolen items. Both men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court.
