**Hyderabad, January 28, 2025** – The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) announced today that it will expand its 1912 power outage hotline to rural areas. Currently, the toll-free number only serves Greater Hyderabad. The expansion comes as the state prepares for peak summer demand.
TGSPDCL CMD Md. Musharraf Ali Faruqui stated that senior engineers will be appointed as nodal officers to monitor electricity supply across the Discom’s service area. This proactive measure aims to address potential issues during the anticipated surge in electricity consumption. Earlier this month, the state’s peak power demand reached approximately 14,850 MW, with the Southern Discom accounting for a significant 9,500 MW. The expansion of the 1912 hotline is intended to improve communication and responsiveness to power supply issues across the entire region.
