Tue Jan 28 15:10:00 UTC 2025: **Prayagraj witnesses rare celestial alignment during Mauni Amavasya at Kumbh Mela**
**Prayagraj, January 27:** A unique celestial event is coinciding with Mauni Amavasya at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Astrologers are calling it a “Samudra Manthan” (churning of the ocean) equivalent, a rare occurrence last seen 144 years ago. This auspicious alignment, termed a “Triveni Yoga,” involves the Sun, Moon, and Mercury in the Capricorn zodiac sign, with Jupiter in the ninth aspect. This phenomenon is believed to amplify the spiritual benefits of bathing in the Triveni Sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers).
The auspicious period for bathing begins on January 29th at 2:35 PM and continues until February 8th at 7:25 AM. Devotees are advised that even bathing at any time during this period will bestow immense spiritual merit, equivalent to performing thousands of sacred rituals. While the most auspicious time is considered to be the Brahma Muhurta (before sunrise), the entire day of Mauni Amavasya is deemed sacred for bathing. Those unable to bathe in the Triveni Sangam can achieve similar benefits by adding Ganga water to their bathwater.
The Mauni Amavasya, falling on January 28-29, is also traditionally observed with a vow of silence and worship of Lord Vishnu. The confluence of the auspicious time with Mauni Amavasya is considered exceptionally sacred. Astrologers emphasize that the spiritual benefits extend to all bathers regardless of specific timings or constellations, offering a boon to all participants of the Kumbh Mela.
