Mon Jan 27 06:30:04 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Airport Watch Theft Claim Debunked by CISF: Doctor Deletes Social Media Post After CCTV Review

**New Delhi, January 26, 2025** – A claim of an Apple Watch theft at Delhi airport’s security checkpoint has been refuted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after a review of CCTV footage. Gurugram-based doctor Tushar Mehta, who initially posted about the incident on X (formerly Twitter), later deleted his account and the post after the CISF investigation.

Mehta’s original post alleged that his watch was stolen during a security check and that he subsequently confronted a suspected thief at a nearby watch store, recovering his watch after a confrontation with the thief and a salesman. He further claimed a CISF official later demanded an apology for his behavior.

The CISF, however, released a statement and accompanying CCTV footage refuting Mehta’s account. Their statement confirmed that CCTV footage showed Mehta wearing his watch after the security check and proceeding to his gate without incident. The CISF emphasized that the boarding process was smooth and without any interaction between Mehta and CISF personnel. The agency stated that the posting of unsubstantiated information creates unnecessary anxiety for passengers.

While Mehta’s deleted post detailed his account of the alleged theft, including confronting a suspect and retrieving the watch, the CISF’s review concluded that the events he described did not occur. The CISF has not yet commented on whether any action will be taken against Mehta for providing false information. The incident highlights the importance of verifying information before sharing it on social media, particularly when it involves accusations against security personnel.
