Mon Jan 27 14:30:23 UTC 2025: ## Eminent Writer Vaisakhan Elected Chair of Thunchan Memorial Trust
**MALAPPURAM, January 27, 2025** – Vaisakhan, a prominent writer, has been unanimously elected as the new chairperson of the Thunchan Memorial Trust in Thunchanparamba, Tirur. He succeeds the late M.T. Vasudevan Nair, who held the position for 32 years until his passing on December 25th. The election was announced Monday evening.
P. Nandakumar MLA, secretary of the Trust, proposed Vaisakhan’s candidacy, which was seconded by poets Alankode Leelakrishnan and Manambur Rajanbabu. Writer M.R. Raghava Varier presided over the meeting.
This year’s Thunchan festival, a five-day event commencing February 27th, will be dedicated to the memory of M.T. Vasudevan Nair under the title “Pranamam MT.” Tamil writer Sivasankari will inaugurate the festival, which will include seminars, book fairs, screenings of M.T. Vasudevan Nair’s films, and a special session honoring photographers who captured his image.
