**Agartala, Tripura –** Tripura police have arrested two individuals, Neeraj Kumar and Inder Kumar, both residents of Samastipur, Bihar, in connection with an interstate criminal gang. The arrests, made on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at a Dharmanagar hotel, follow the recent apprehension of an armed Bangladeshi suspect in Agartala.
Police recovered a .32 pistol and a loaded magazine from the suspects. A district police officer confirmed that both men have criminal records and that authorities are coordinating with Bihar police on the investigation. Charges under Sections 25, 27, and 111(1) of the Arms Act have been filed.
The arrests have raised security concerns in Tripura, particularly given their timing ahead of Republic Day celebrations. The earlier arrest of Samajpriyo Chakma, a Bangladeshi national possessing a 9mm pistol and currency from both India and Bangladesh, further underscores these concerns. The investigation is ongoing.
