Mon Jan 27 15:08:18 UTC 2025: ## TCS to Open Visakhapatnam Office, Boosting Andhra Pradesh’s IT Sector
**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh:** Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will open a new office in Visakhapatnam within the next three months, initially operating from a temporary location at Millennium Towers in Rushikonda. This announcement follows a successful visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Minister Lokesh also held positive talks with IT giant Cognizant, promising further good news soon.
The Minister’s statement came after a court appearance in Visakhapatnam on Monday, where a defamation case he filed against a Telugu daily was adjourned until February 28th. Addressing reporters, Lokesh revealed the state government’s ambitious plan to create 500,000 IT jobs in Visakhapatnam over the next five years. He highlighted the government’s commitment to attracting IT companies, offering land at significantly reduced rates to the first 500 applicants – a strategy similar to that employed with HCL Technologies in Vijayawada. The government is also exploring the establishment of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) and is actively addressing infrastructural concerns like transportation and safety to foster a conducive environment for IT businesses.
Lokesh criticized the opposition YSRCP party for their negative comments regarding his Davos trip, emphasizing the NDA government’s success in attracting ₹6.33 lakh crore in investments over the past seven months, potentially generating 4.10 lakh jobs. He contrasted this with the YSRCP government’s alleged failure to attract investment and its forcing of businesses like the Amara Raja Group to leave the state. He also commented on the resignation of V. Vijaya Sai Reddy from the YSRCP and Rajya Sabha, suggesting internal party issues and indicating that legal processes regarding corruption allegations against Reddy will continue. Finally, Lokesh stated that his government is working on implementing promises made during his ‘Yuva Galam’ padayatra, with discussions underway with the Finance Minister.
