**HYDERABAD, INDIA – January 27, 2025** – With cybercrime losses in India reaching ₹22,812 crore (approximately $2.7 billion USD) and Telangana reporting 120,869 cases, the state is taking proactive measures to bolster its digital defenses. The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) announced SHIELD 2025, a major cybersecurity conclave scheduled for February 18-19 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).
The event aims to bring together law enforcement, industry leaders, academia, NGOs, and government bodies to address the escalating threat. SHIELD 2025 will feature panel discussions, workshops, and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies. Topics will range from artificial intelligence and blockchain to ransomware, cryptocurrency scams, and combating misinformation. A special focus will be placed on protecting women and children online.
Exclusive closed-door sessions for law enforcement will focus on developing strategies to combat emerging cybercrime trends, including mule hunting, VOIP fraud, and cryptocurrency scams.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty emphasized the conference’s importance in strengthening partnerships and developing actionable strategies for cybercrime prevention. Ramesh Kaza, SCSC secretary general, highlighted the opportunity to bridge the gap between industry and law enforcement, creating a future-ready cybersecurity framework. The TGCSB noted that they have already helped return ₹183 crore to 17,912 victims of cybercrime. The conclave underscores the urgency of collaboration to secure Telangana’s thriving IT sector and extensive e-governance services.
