**Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu, January 27, 2025** – The 22nd Russian Dance Festival captivated audiences in Tiruchi on Monday with a dazzling display of dance forms from Russia. Organized by the Indo-Russian Cultural and Friendship Society in collaboration with the Russian House Chennai, the festival showcased the talents of the Orchid troupe from Rostov-on-Don.
The event, inaugurated by A. Sivathanu Pillai, scientist and founder of BrahMos Aerospace, highlighted the strong cultural ties between India and Russia. Mr. Pillai underscored the importance of cultural exchange in fostering friendly relations, referencing the collaborative aerospace ventures between the two nations.
The Orchid troupe’s performance was a diverse and energetic spectacle, encompassing ballet, folk dances, gypsy styles, acrobatics, gymnastics, and tap dancing. A contemporary ballet piece set to the iconic Ilaiyaraja song “Poove Sempoove” proved a particular highlight, eliciting enthusiastic audience participation.
The festival, which features a diverse range of Russian dance styles, will continue its tour across Tamil Nadu until February 3rd.
