**THOOTHUKUDI, January 26, 2025** – The 76th Republic Day was observed at V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port today with Chairperson Sushanta Kumar Purohit hoisting the national flag. Mr. Purohit addressed attendees, highlighting key developments including the planned dredging of the north cargo berth III by next month. This dredging will allow vessels with drafts up to 14.20 meters to dock. He also announced that the Government of India has designated VOC Port as an “Offshore wind energy hub.”
The celebrations included the distribution of traffic performance awards for 2020-2023 to various stakeholders, recognizing their contributions to the port’s success. Meritorious awards were also presented to port officers and staff.
