**RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM, January 27, 2025** – The 76th Republic Day was celebrated across the Godavari region on Sunday, with district collectors announcing significant development projects. In Rajamahendravaram, East Godavari Collector P. Prasanthi revealed a ₹185 crore proposal to repair the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, ensuring continued irrigation for the Godavari delta.
West Godavari Collector Ch. Nagarani, speaking in Bhimavaram, highlighted the ongoing construction of the Andhra Pradesh Fisheries University in Narsapur and ongoing negotiations with NABARD to provide crochet lacing skill training to revive a local craft.
Meanwhile, Konaseema Collector R. Mahesh Kumar announced the restoration of mangroves in the Godavari estuary with Green Climate Fund aid and a proposal for establishing coconut clusters in the region. In Kakinada, Collector S. Shan Mohan reported the completion of repairs on 400 km of roads and the nearing completion of over 4,300 houses under the PM Awas Yojana by the end of January. The celebrations included a felicitation of a freedom fighter in Rajamahendravaram.
