Mon Jan 27 09:04:44 IST 2025: ## Congress Accuses BJP of Using Film to Influence Delhi Election

**New Delhi, January 27, 2025** – The Congress party has accused the BJP of attempting to sway the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections through the release of a film about the 2020 northeast Delhi riots. The film, titled “2020 Delhi,” is scheduled for release just three days before the February 5th election.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi called for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to intervene, citing the ECI’s precedent of halting the release of a Narendra Modi biopic during the 2019 general elections. Singhvi described “2020 Delhi” as a biased and inflammatory film targeting a specific religious community, intended to disrupt public order.

He questioned the timing of the film’s release, suggesting it is a deliberate BJP tactic to influence voters. Singhvi also criticized Prime Minister Modi’s planned visit to the Maha Kumbh on election day, suggesting it is not a coincidence.

Furthermore, Singhvi accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of resorting to defamatory advertisements against Congress leaders, labeling them “traitors,” and demanded the ECI remove such material. He characterized these actions as signs of AAP’s desperation in the face of impending defeat. Singhvi emphasized the need for swift action by the ECI given the short timeframe before the election.
